MFA Spokesman's Comments in response to media queries on the situation in Mumbai. In response to media queries on the situation in Mumbai, the MFA Spokesman said:
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Singapore Consulate-General in Mumbai continue to closely monitor the situation in Mumbai.
The Ministry would like to reiterate its earlier advisory (issued on 27 November 2008) for Singaporeans who do not have a pressing need to travel to Mumbai to postpone the travel to a later date.
Singaporeans should also avoid all non-essential travel to India. Singaporeans intending to travel to India should closely monitor news developments there. Should they decide to travel, they are advised to register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at www.mfa.gov.sg. This will enable the Ministry and our Missions in India to contact Singaporeans and render them the necessary consular assistance in case of emergencies. When in India, Singaporeans are advised to take the necessary precautions for their personal safety.
All Singaporeans travelling abroad are also encouraged to purchase comprehensive medical and travel insurance."

Reopening of Bangkok Airport
On 26 November 2008, protestors supporting the People's Alliance for Democracy stormed the airport, occupying the departure lounge and blocking all exits. Three thousand passengers were temporarily stranded as all flights were grounded. On 02 December 2008, protestors agreed to leave the airport whereby they had been protesting and permitted the resumption of flights.

Bangkok airport seizures
On November 25, 2008, People's Alliance for Democracy members initiated an armed takeover of Bangkok's two major airports, Don Mueang International Airport and Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The government unsuccessfully attempted to order the military to end the protests. Instead, General Anupong Paochinda, head of the military, has urged the PAD to end the protests and for the government to resign so that new elections can take place. As the siege dragged on, both sides opened fire and at one point explosions were heard.
On November 27, the government declared the second state of emergency of the year to help it disperse the protesters as negotiations with police failed to end the crisis. The police ordered the protesters to leave the airports, which they refused to do. There are still substantial fears that the seizures will end violently.

A 1966 legislative error legally placed southern Idaho in the North American Central Time Zone. The 1966 Uniform Time Act added Atlantic standard time as the first zone, renumbering mountain standard time from the third zone to the fourth zone,[2] but the portion of the original 1918 Standard Time Act which placed southern Idaho in the "third zone"[3] was not changed in 1966. Nevertheless, southern Idaho is now officially in the Mountain Time Zone according to the Code of Federal Regulations.[4]

Western Australia began a three-year experiment with usage of summer (daylight saving) time on 3 December 2006. Daylight saving time will be used from October through March, with the late start in 2006 due to late passage of the relevant legislation. A referendum will be held in the autumn or winter of 2009 to determine whether daylight saving time usage will be permanent.

* People's Republic of China
Note that the whole of the People's Republic of China has the same time, which makes this time zone exceptionally wide. In the extreme west of China the sun is at its highest at 15:00, in the extreme east at 11:00. It also means that on the short (76 km) frontier with Afghanistan, the official time change is 3 hours and 30 minutes. The two western autonomous regions of China, Xinjiang and Tibet, were in UTC+6 during the Republic era (1912–1949), but were moved to UTC+8 after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. Today, residents of the two autonomous regions do everything 2 hours late. For example, lunch is at 14:00 and business hour ends around 19:00.[citation needed]

Kwajalein advanced 24 hours to the eastern hemisphere side of the International Date Line by skipping 21 August 1993. Eniwetok and Bikini probably advanced even earlier, when the U.S. military relinquished its control of them.
