MFA Spokesman's Comments in response to media queries on the situation in Mumbai. In response to media queries on the situation in Mumbai, the MFA Spokesman said:
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Singapore Consulate-General in Mumbai continue to closely monitor the situation in Mumbai.
The Ministry would like to reiterate its earlier advisory (issued on 27 November 2008) for Singaporeans who do not have a pressing need to travel to Mumbai to postpone the travel to a later date.
Singaporeans should also avoid all non-essential travel to India. Singaporeans intending to travel to India should closely monitor news developments there. Should they decide to travel, they are advised to register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at www.mfa.gov.sg. This will enable the Ministry and our Missions in India to contact Singaporeans and render them the necessary consular assistance in case of emergencies. When in India, Singaporeans are advised to take the necessary precautions for their personal safety.
All Singaporeans travelling abroad are also encouraged to purchase comprehensive medical and travel insurance."
